Raw Chocolate Tarts

I recently made these scrumptious little goodies for Santa Barbara Life & Style (the magazine comes out March 25 and features a whole section on the Detox, so be sure to check it out in stores) and they just might be my favorite guilt-free indulgence right now. These raw chocolate tarts are so easy to make and seriously satisfy my insane chocolate cravings.

I’m not sure about you, but I personally love sweet over savory. I could probably survive off chocolate all day ‘erryday but that wouldn’t be toooo healthy, would it? The reason I love these treats so much however, is that it’s all things good for you combined into one that you can eat for breakfast, a snack, or dessert.

Amazing little goodies like these remind us that you don’t have to go completely cold turkey off all the foods you love in order to eat healthy. I try to keep nutritious, delicious goodies like these on hand for those moments when the cookie monster in me wants to devour an entire box of Girl Scout Cookies (because this weekend proved that he WILL succeed if I don’t have a better option). Good news is: being prepared with these amazing Raw Chocolate Tarts will keep your naughty craving at bay.

These craving busters are also the perfect addition to the post detox lifestyle – the Aftertox. One of my favorite parts of my book, The 5 Day Real Food Detox, is that you learn not just how to detox, but how to CONTINUE to reap the benefits of the detox and transition into a healthy lifestyle. I provide recipes and tips for what I call the Sharp Lifetime Diet, so you don’t lose that amazing body and energy you just got out of the detox. These Raw Chocolate Tarts are the perfect example of the kind of recipes you will find in the Sharp Lifetime Diet. These bad boys may taste like a cheat, but they are actually helping you to transition into a lifetime of healthy eating habits and managing your cravings. Combing foods from the detox with foods you’re reintroducing back into your diet afterwards helps your body to adjust and normalize gradually as you establish healthy eating habits for life. Bonus: they are SO good for you and super simple to make!

I recommend using the cupcake silicon molds, they are the BEST for this recipe. They are freezer safe, dishwasher safe and plus the fun color pop makes the presentation look amazing. I personally got mine at Michaels, but there are several places you can find them.

Now to my favorite part: these tasty treats are packed with nutrients and all raw and clean ingredients to nourish your transitioning body after the detox. The chia seeds provide your body with a healthy dose of calcium, protein, and fiber. The avocados and bananas provide potassium, while the avocados also contain heart healthy monosaturated fatty acids to reduce inflammation in the body. The raw cacao powder is packed with antioxidants and helps to increase circulation and lower your risk of heart disease.

So reach for this recipe to satisfy your craving for delightfully delicious dessert and a clean, healthy post detox lifestyle. And be sure to learn more about the Sharp Lifetime Diet and life after detoxing in my book at nikkisharp.com/book. Tag me in your tasty creations and let me know your favorite mouthwatering raw treats.
