Strawberries, Walnuts & Dark Chocolate
I saw a picture on Instagram that looked pretty simple and could be a lovely treat so I decided to try re-creating it for a girlfriend after our main course, although slightly different as I’m not the best person at following recipes (especially when there is no recipe to follow!).
I didn’t have an egg-carton to place the strawberries in, so I made do with what we had and found small containers that would hold three while they set.
Now some quick nutrition information: this is a powerhouse dessert because of all the ingredients used. Strawberries have phenol, which is what gives them that beautiful red color which also has the lovely benefits such as cancer protection, it acts as an anti-inflammatory in your body, and they have an abundance of vitamin C which lowers blood pressure and helps strengthen your immune system. 70% or higher cocoa content dark chocolate has a surplus of antioxidants that enhance blood flow, lowers cholesterol levels and can also reduce blood pressure. Two tablespoons of natural cocoa have more antioxidants than 4 cups of green tea! Coconut Oil is a healthy saturated fat and unfortunately has a bad rap as being unhealthy which is quite the opposite. Among the many benefits it has, aiding with weight loss is a huge one, increasing your metabolism as another, on top of aiding in digestion. It helps lower cholesterol, prevents cancer, and aids in the management of type 2 diabetes. Walnuts top out this amazing list as they also contain healthy fats which help keep weight and cravings down, metabolism up, high amounts of protein and dietary fiber, and protect the body against various diseases.
