The Top Fourth of July Recipes

The Fourth of July is one of my all time favorite holidays. But when you’re trying to eat clean, navigating the summer holidays can be tricky. On the one hand – we want to eat right and feel amazing sporting a bikini. On the other hand – A summer picnic or BBQ usually won’t have much more than burgers, hot dogs, potato salad and sugar-filled drinks. I am a firm believer in incorporating balance into a healthy lifestyle and enjoying the foods you want in moderation, BUT too many of these little festivities can have you feeling pretty sluggish. The solution? Be the star of your star-spangled weekend and bring a healthy, fun and festive dish to the table this Fourth of July that everyone will love. Whether you are hosting, or looking for the perfect addition to bring to a pot-luck, this food guide to the Fourth of July has some of my favorite options I’ve come across for the fun-filled weekend.

The following 10 recipes are sure to turn heads and spark taste buds this weekend. Follow the links to get the recipes from their original sources. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!

  1. Blueberry, Strawberry & Jicama Salsa

Spice up any patriotic holiday spread with this beautiful little addition. This Red, White and Blue salsa is flavor packed and the sweet and spicy combination is going to satisfy the crowds much better than any bland and predictable store bought salsa.

2. Summertime Sun Tea

These are downright adorable. If your crowd isn’t too large, I highly recommend skipping the sodas or punch in favor of these festive goodies that everyone will want to grab. Tip: having out a big pitcher of plain ice tea for guest to refill these little guys with when they’re done is super helpful.

3. Blissed Out Black Bean Burger

The Fourth of July Burger meets the health conscious party goer with this tasty and healthy alternative. Many people would think the 4th wasn’t complete without a delicious burger; serving these bad boys as an option will keep even the most clean eating guests happy.

4. All-Natural Red, White and Blue Popsicles

No Fourth of July spread would be complete without tasty patriotic treats, now would it? You can’t walk into a grocery store this time of year without seeing dozens and dozens of red, white and blue cookies, cupcakes and more. Over-processed store-bought options will be PACKED with sugar and won’t actually be satisfying. These head-turning, all-natural patriotic popsicles are sure to be the talk of the party and are packed with healthy ingredients as well. Guilt-free fun is the best kind of fun.

5. Avocado Strawberry Spinach Salad

This gorgeous salad is the perfect addition to your 4th plans. It’s sweet, light and filling. Pasta and potato salads weigh you down and can have you feeling pretty sluggish by the time the fireworks are actually popping. A healthy and crisp option like this is the perfect summer salad to whip up instead.

6.  Star Fruit Salad

I love this idea. Grab a star-shaped cookie cuter and you can do this with a ton of different types of fruit. Save the excess fruit to use in drinks or put in a tupperware container in the refrigerator to save for another time.

7. Patriotic Salad

Is someone already bringing the fruit dish? Here’s the perfect use of that star shaped fruit in a fun and festive salad for the holiday instead. This salad is gorgeous, refreshing and even has a protein boost as well.

8. Blueberry Tarts

Raw, Vegan, Gluten-Free Dessert. Need I say more? This tasty treat makes a great dessert option for those clean eating guests. And it’s beautiful too! Try adding raspberries or strawberry pieces on top if you want to really get in the spirit of the holiday.

9. Raspberry Ripple Sangria

Why can’t our grown up beverages be celebrating Independence Day as well? This sangria is the perfect patriotic drink to cheers to the USA.

10. Watermelon Berry Mint Cooler

If alcohol isn’t your thing (or you want to have a fun option for the kiddos), you’re going to love this one. Its refreshing, hydrating and naturally sweet.

Happy celebrating my loves. Tag me in your Red, White and Blue creations and let me know what some of your favorite summer treats are.
